We can confirm for all current and prospective IFON members that our union does not affiliate with any political party either within Scotland or the UK. Our membership fees are entirely used for the core purpose of providing our service to all members and we have never donated, nor will we in the future, to any political organisation.
We are however registered with the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 – (certificate under section 2(5)) which is formally lodged with Frederick Street in Edinburgh along with all other unions in Scotland.

| Rita Moorhead (Deputy Chairperson) Hi my name is Rita Moorhead. I am a Community Psychiatric Nurse working within Greater Glasgow & Clyde. I qualified in 1988 from Glasgow North School of Nursing & Midwifery. I have been appointed to the position of Deputy Chairperson and I am looking forward to taking up this role. I believe that IFON is a ground breaking union which is the way forward for Scottish nurses. |
Nichola Docherty (Aird) (Deputy Treasurer ) I have been nursing for 22 years and have worked in a variety of fields within Psychiatry. I previously worked within the NHS, however presently am employed within the Private Sector, caring for elderly residents. I have enjoyed being involved with IFON for over 10 years and have gained knowledge contributing within the Executive Committee. |
Lorraine Bell (Treasurer) I am Lorraine Bell and I have been nursing for almost 40 years. I have had various roles in nursing and am currently a Scrub Nurse in Theatres. I have been a member of IFON since 2000. I look forward to many more years as a committee member with this excellent union. |
